Terms of Service
1. You agree that you are 18 years of age or older.
2. You agree that during initial communications, both parties will need to evaluate whether we can work together effectively, and that we may choose not to work with you via the internet.
3. You agree that either of us may discontinue our counselling relationship at any time by sending an e-mail to that effect.
4. You agree that you are seeking services specifically for personal counselling or therapy, and not in connection with any research project either for publication or for personal use.
5. You agree that the counselling or therapy services will be provided by Talk and Listen UK Ltd, and that the provision of these sevices will be governed under the laws of England and Wales.
6. You agree that Talk and Listen UK Ltd does not provide a 24 hour emergency service. You agree to identify appropriate services in your local area which will be able to provide emergency assistance, should it be required.
7. You agree that Talk and Listen UK Ltd will not be held responsible for direct or consequential loss due to internet service failures or computer malfunction.
8. You agree that Talk and Listen UK Ltd counsellors are not physicians, and not being physicians will not provide medical advice, and that none of our counselling services will be construed as the practice of medicine or telemedicine.
9. You agree that you are not receiving counselling services from any other sources.
10. You agree that you are not suffering from severe mental illness, including schizophrenia, manic depression (bipolar disease), clinical depression or personality disorders.
11. You agree that you are not in severe crisis now.
12. We agree to respect your right to privacy and undertake to keep information we hold about you confidential. We are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 to hold sensitive information on computer. Our registration number is Z9495164.
13. You agree to our confidentiality terms:
Confidentiality, all Talk and Listen Counsellors work within the BACP and CCC Counselling guidelines, which state that counsellors will maintain confidentiality of everything disclosed by the client - EXCEPT in the following three areas:
a) If a client discloses a serious intent to harm themselves.
b) If the client discloses a serious intent to harm someone else.
c) If the client discloses abuse of someone else, including the abuse of a child or an elderly person.
14. We agree that providing our terms and conditions have been adhered to the client will be entitled to a refund should either party terminate the contract; refunds will only be given on unused prepaid sessions and will be subject to a deduction of £20 for administration charges.
